Supporting Community with Signage for The Sydney Vegan Market

Here at Sydney Signs Portal, we pay more than lip service to the ethical values we aim to run our business by. This means occasionally declining work – usually on the grounds that we are not comfortable with supporting businesses involving animal exploitation.

So you can imagine the excitement we felt when approached by Vegan NSW to assist with the signage needed for their monthly Sydney Vegan Market.

A range of custom made signs, logos, banners, digital prints and more were required for this major event. Because we were working for a charitable organisation, and a lifestyle our entire team is passionate about, we were happy to donate time and resources, ensuring costs were kept to a minimum – not a simple task when small business like ours takes on such a large-scale project.

The market is held on the 3rd Sunday of every month at the grounds of The Sydney Portugal Community Club in Marrickville. The signage we created for it serves functionally, while you’re surrounded by great food and so much more at this truly spectacular community event.

The allure of gold decals

Some projects stand out from the initial email contact – and such was the case when we were contacted by a boutique wine outlet in Sydney.

The plan was to use gold decals for their shopfront retail signage. And when you combine gold window stickers with exquisite design, the results, as you can see, are spectacular.

This is also a great example of incorporating the architectural features of the shopfront with the design. The tall vertical balustrades frame the glass decals, showcasing the business signage as the work of art it turned out to be.

Making Signage the Centrepiece of your Event

When you spend as much time designing, producing and installing: window frosting, glass decals, wall murals, shopfront signage and office wall stickers – for businesses, you can overlook what a significant component of our work creating event signage has been over the years. But when the incredibly talented folk at Valiant Event Styling entrusted us with an urgent job for an event they were working on, we were reminded of this fact in our favourite way possible.

The brief was simply the type of challenge our team at Sydney Signs Portal has grown to relish: to produce a multi-panel wall mural to be installed the following day. This included a consultative element from our most experienced team member to advise the client on how to resolve certain technical aspects of the project, or, as the client put it: “He went out of his way by providing advice on image specs… and suggested solutions to ensure the best result.”

Our team worked late into the night to produce the printed mural in time for the event. And, as you can see, the results were spectacular.

It was a great honour for Sydney Signs Portal to sponsor Utopia Redux, the UNSW 2016 Master of Architecture Graduand Exhibition.

Our sponsorship is the culmination of 3 years of producing window decals and wall stickers for the UNSW, and reflective of the value we place in forming meaningful relationships with our clients and the community.

Our decision to offer sponsorship was set in motion when the students approached us with an installation proposal that was well beyond their budget. We have always been generous with our pricing for their signage needs, but the scale and ambition of their concept compelled us to offer sponsorship as a means to realise their vision.

The process also provided the students with the type of valuable negotiating experience they can take with them into the future.

For Sydney Signs Portal, we took particular delight in being able to sponsor an event that showcased the talent of young people poised to launch a career in one of the creative fields – we not only work within – but have tremendous respect for.

A beautiful designer large window decal was installed for Euroluce to highlight a Flash Clearance Sale, following the Christmas and New Year holidays. This decal is a copy of the red version installed on the same window last year by Sydney Signs Portal. A special white removable vinyl was used for this window sticker to make its removal easy when the Clearance Sale ends in a couple of months.
